BATTLE OF THE DAMNED

GOES TO ANCHOR BAY FILMS

CANNES, FR – Anchor Bay Films has acquired all rights to the sci-fi action film Battle of the Damned from Bleiberg Entertainment’s Compound B.  The agreement covers the U.S., Australia and New Zealand rights.  Battle of the Damned stars Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables, Universal Soldier) along with David Field (Chopper, David Michod’s upcoming The Rover), Matt Doran (The Matrix, The Thin Red Line) and newcomer Melanie Zanetti.  Anchor Bay Entertainment’s president Bill Clark made today’s announcement.

“There truly is no other film like this on the market,” commented Kevin Kasha, Executive Vice President, Acquisitions and Co-Productions.  “It’s got zombies and robots and spectacle. The visual effects are fantastic and this is one of the best roles Dolph has ever had.”

In the near future on the outskirts of civilization a remote test facility lays in ruin following a catastrophic security breach.  All that remains is a handful of survivors, their small armory of weapons and a fleet of the infected.  The breach led to a viral outbreak that left thousands dead or mutated.  Now the infected walk the land, stalking the few that still live. Led by private military operative Max Gatling (Lundgren), our heroes have learned to fight against the infected, in hopes that rescue will soon come from the outside world.  What they weren’t expecting, though, was the emergence of another deadly threat.  The breach also gave way to the escape of a band of malfunctioning prototype robots. Armed and incredibly dangerous, the robots could either be an indomitable force...or an unexpected ally in their battle against the infected masses.

Christopher Hatton directed from his own script, and also produced with Ehud Bleiberg and Leon Tong. Nicholas Donnermeyer and Dolph Lundgren executive produced.  Bleiberg and Giulia Prenna negotiated on behalf of Bleiberg Entertainment.

It was previously announced that Anchor Bay and Bleiberg would also be teaming up on the upcoming film Kill ‘Em All, John!starring Steve Austin, set to shoot later this summer. Bleiberg will be handling sales on the remaining territories on both films in Cannes.
